Furniture Maintenance & DIY Cleaning

Ideally, Upholstered Furniture should be professionally cleaned every 5 years for every 2 residents. Pets count as residents too. So a couple with a child and dog should have their furniture cleaned every 2.5 years or so, in order to keep it in like new condition.

However, regular DIY maintenance is still recommended and can even stretch the time between professional cleanings. Here is what I recommend;

 

  • Vacuum thoroughly once every 6 months per 2 residents. (pets are residents too)

  • Spot Clean immediately following accidents and spills with water only and a wet dry vacuum (or upright carpet Cleaner).

  • DO NOT use store bought cleaners. Most customers use far too much of the wrong products. The residue often discolors and draws soil into the fabric.
